SDWR is committed to advocating and raising awareness for invisible disabilities, as well as, service dogs. We are actively seeking opportunities to get involved on a state and national level to make the world more service dog-friendly.

SDWR is heavily involved in the service dog and invisible disability communities and spends a significant amount of time and manpower raising awareness at events all over the nation. Service dogs provide comfort, peace of mind, therapeutic relief and life-saving actions every day. If you are interested in learning more about our community involvement please visit ourSDWR In The News page to see us in action.

There is still much work to do in making the world a better for the differently abled like those Autism, Diabetes, PTSD, and Seizure disorders. But when we work together and form a family, SDWR believes there are no limits.

Virginia Governor Spotlight : SDWR

SDWR would like to give a very special thank you to our wonderful Governor Terry McAuliffe for the compliments paid to Service Dogs by SDWR for all of our the hard work we do serving our mutual communities. It wouldn’t be possible without our donors, volunteers, and strategic partnerships through the wonderful communities, especially the Commonwealth of Virginia. Thank you, Governor, we appreciate your recognition in our dedication to helping our communities live better lives through our service dog program. We further appreciate your recognition of our Fallen Officer Puppy Program.

SDWR Visits Congress

February 2017, our organization had the privilege to meet with members of congress to discuss the place of service dogs and the rights of those with disabilities. It is important to us to discuss the valuable role a service dog can play in a treatment plan and the need for federal or insurance options to help reduce the cost for families. From the recent Supreme Court Ruling on Fry Vs. Napoleon to the fair housing act for Service Dogs, it’s important to recognize the brave people who pave the way for a better world
